Eye Magazine Creative Director Speaks in Chattanooga

Widgets & Stone and AIGA Chattanooga are pleased to present Simon Esterson, the Creative Director of Eye Magazine: The International Review of Graphic Design.

Simon Esterson is an editorial designer. He was the launch art director of the architecture and design magazine Blueprint and later creative director of Italian architecture monthly Domus. He is now creative director and part owner of Eye, the international review of graphic design. More information on Eye's long record of promoting excellence in international graphic design from its headquarters in England can be found at eyemagazine.com.

Widgets & Stone designer Joseph Shipp met Esterson earlier this year at international magazine symposium Colophon, in Luxembourg.

“We are bringing Simon to speak to local designers and design aficionados because we love Eye, and we love Chattanooga,” said Shipp.

Simon will speak about Eye Magazine and the state of design in Europe at 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 6 at green|spaces. The event is open to the public. $5 for AIGA members and students (with student ID), $10 for the general public. Food and drinks will be served as well.

Following Simon’s presentation will be an informal panel discussion on “The Future of Print” with Simon and several Chattanoogans involved in publishing: J. Kevin Tugman of custom magazine publisher Sunshine Media, Zachary Cooper of the Chattanooga Pulse, David Morton of the blog Chattarati.

This event is sponsored in part by Sunshine Media and the UT-Chattanooga Design Department.

green|spaces is located at 63 East Main Street, Chattanooga TN 37408.
